“We were recommended to Josh by our architect. He gave us the names of three builders, and we ended up choosing Josh from Kit-Markin. We had a lot of trust in our architect and felt that both he and Josh would work well together – and they did.
From the beginning, Josh showed a clear understanding of what we were trying to achieve. During the tender process, that really came through in the discussions and what he presented, which was important to us. We hadn’t built before, so we weren’t entirely sure what to expect, but we were impressed from our very first engagement with him.
Throughout the build, that professionalism continued. We looked forward to receiving our regular site summaries and appreciated how Josh made the effort to clearly document and capture all the changes we made along the way. One thing worth highlighting is his flexibility – we made several changes during the build, and nothing ever felt like a problem. We’ve been told that kind of adaptability is rare in the building industry.
We were also really impressed with the finishing details. Our architect was pleased too – it was clear their design was brought to life by skilled, quality tradespeople.
To top it all off, we were thrilled to hear that this project won a national award. From what we understand, those aren’t easy to achieve, so it was a massive recognition of the Kit-Markin team’s quality and hard work.

We connected really well with Josh from Kit-Markin Homes from day one.
We were after something bespoke and a bit different. In the past, we’d built with a higher-end housing company, but they used contract builders who were juggling half a dozen builds at once – we felt like just another number.
This time, we wanted a more personal building experience, tailored to what we actually wanted. Josh was heavily involved with the architect from the early stages, and we felt the suggestions he put forward were genuinely considered. He even helped save costs on things we didn’t really need. We also felt he had a solid understanding of the design process, and his input came from real experience – the points he raised were valid and helpful.
Throughout construction, our needs were met. With our previous build, communication was minimal – this time, Josh was an excellent project manager, and we never felt pressured. Because we made our finish and colour selections early, any delays were avoided – we didn’t want the hold-up to be on us!
We trusted the Kit-Markin team so much that we went overseas during the build, and when we returned, our home was basically ready for us to move into.
We were also thrilled to hear that our build won a Gold Award. Achieving one of these is no small feat, so we were incredibly happy for Josh and the Kit-Markin team. After all their hard work, it was a well-deserved and reassuring reward.
